Boo Shoes- The Process

Halloween is just around the corner, so I decided to make a pair of spooky shoes!

I've found that while painting designs, painting dripping liquid was interesting, and because it's October, I thought the best way to use that skill and keep it in theme was to create dripping blood.

I started by painting various exterior bloodstains, then dotting the red blobs with smaller white dots to represent highlights. The fun part about painting liquid is it's very abstract, so I used a variety of patterns. Then came deciding what to do for the front of the shoe.

The eyelets reminded me of scenes in horror movies where blood begins pouring out of nowhere, so I decided to make drops pour out of them.

The front of the shoe was still a mystery; I knew I wanted to paint a word, but which word to paint? I eventually settled on "boo," as its a short and common word to associate with Halloween.

Looking back on the photos, I found that without using the flash, the camera picked up the colors in a way that almost looked like it glowed in the dark, which I used in my photoshoot along with bright photos to allude to the common flickering lights associated with horror films. You can check those picks out on my Instagram, @12kicksoffical.

I hope you all enjoy this design as much as I did making it!
